Previous Teams

Since 2006, our aim has been to send two volunteer teams to Nepal annually. Below you can learn more about the rehab teams as well as their foci and goals, all in support of our rehab initiatives.  

Team 27 - Spring 2026
Carol (Rehab Engineer), Mikayla (Physiotherapist), Sandra (Health Educator),
​Kayleigh (Occupational Therapist), Sameer (Occupational Therapist)​

Team 27 travelled through Nepal in April 2026, and visited 5 hospitals and community organizations to support rehabilitation services there.  The team delivered clinical education, supported patient care, conducted home visits, and strengthened partnerships. A consistent theme throughout the visit was the dedication and adaptability of local teams despite limited resources.

Team 24 - Spring, 2023

Team 24 travelled to Nepal in March 2023, lead by rehab engineer Carol Scovil who completed her 8th NepalAbility trip, alongside team members Sandra Mills (patient educator and engagement) and Becky Bauman (OT). Heather Grieve (PT) provided resources and support from Canada, as she was unable to travel to Nepal.

NepalAbility was excited to reconnect with our colleagues in Nepal in the fall of 2022, following an almost 3-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic! The focus once again was on developing neuro-rehabilitation and providing ongoing education with our Nepali healthcare.​​

Team 22 - Fall, 2019

By promoting neuro-rehabilitation, providing sustainable education and collaborating with our Nepali healthcare partners, our most recent team gave their knowledge, but received life experiences, new friendships and lasting memories in return on their visit to support our Nepali partners back in 2019.

Team 21 - Fall, 2018

Team 21 focused primarily on supporting neuro and spinal cord injury rehab at United Mission Hospital, Tansen.  Some of the team also visited Green Pastures Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre, and the Spinal Injury Rehab Centre in Pokhara for consultation and discussions of future NepalAbility involvement.

Team 20 - Spring, 2018

In the spring of 2018, NepalAbility sent another dedicated team to Nepal to support NepalAbility's clinical partners, with a focus on wound management, palliative care, and supporting a changing field for nurses and physiotherapists as motor vehicle accidents and chronic injury become more frequent occurrences for people in Nepal

Team 19 completed their visit in November 2017. Consisting of new and seasoned members of the team, their focus combined building on ongoing efforts with our partners in Nepal, as well as exploring exciting new areas of practice with our Nepali partners.
