Supporting NeuroRehab
We rely entirely on donations to help support the rehabilitation needs of people in Nepal through salary support, equipment and continuous education. NepalAbility maintains an extremely low overhead and we take pride that almost 100% of funds raised are used to provide services to the people of Nepal. Our members volunteer and donate their own time, as well as pay their own travel, food, and accommodation costs on visits to Nepal.
Continuing Education
With a gap in clinical education and limited opportunities for professional development, a major focus for NepalAbility is supporting our Nepali partners with with classroom- and bedside-learning in the area of rehabilitation. Our in-person, interprofessional rehab teams (pre-pandemic) had clear goals and foci to meet the expressed need of our partner facilities, and covered a wide range of rehabilitation care including brain injury, spinal cord injury, wound care, palliative medicine, and wheelchair prescription to name a few.
Pandemic Response
The COVID-19 pandemic has radically changed how we collaborate with our Nepali partners. Like so many, we have pivoted our teaching strategy to include virtual learning.
Our broad strategy includes synchronous learning (same time and place) using videoconferencing platforms, as well as asynchronous learning (different time and place) with a focus on mentorship and case-based learning. Our aim is to partner with local education champions to assist with knowledge translation and application to practice.
